Is Graduate Diploma in Commercial Law Right for You?

The Graduate Diploma in Commercial Law is designed for university graduates who are interested in studying commercial law but do not wish to pursue a full law degree. It also serves as a bridging qualification for those who need to meet entry requirements for postgraduate studies in law, such as an LLM.

Commercial Law
This module focuses on the obligations between parties in commercial transactions and the relationship with rules of personal property. It covers topics such as the sale of goods, international trade, commercial contracts, and aspects of commercial transactions.

Contract Law
This module introduces you to the principles of contract law at common law and in equity. It helps you understand how these principles are applied to agreements. Topics covered may include contract formation, terms of a contract, vitiating factors, discharge of contracts, and remedies for breach of contract.

Company Law
This module is essential for anyone intending to operate in a commercial field. It explores the legal framework surrounding the formation, governance, and regulation of companies. Topics covered may include company formation, shareholder rights, directors' duties, corporate governance, and corporate liability.

Conflict of Laws
Also known as private international law, this module deals with the body of rules applied by English courts to cases involving a foreign element. It covers topics such as jurisdiction, choice of law, recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments, and cross-border legal disputes.

Intellectual Property
This module covers legal protections for creations of the mind, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. Students may examine the acquisition, enforcement, and exploitation of intellectual property rights, as well as the legal implications of technology transfer, licensing agreements, and infringement disputes.

These modules collectively provide a comprehensive understanding of commercial law principles and their practical application. By studying these subjects, you will gain knowledge of commercial transactions, contract law, company law, and the resolution of legal issues involving international elements.

You are warned that these modules, except Contract Law, are some of the most difficult law modules, you are advised to study Contract Law and Commercial Law with us first before moving onto Company Law, Conflict of Laws or Intellectual Property.
