Law Module List (Areas of Law)
Share
We wish to provide a comprehensive module list covering all areas of law. However, because law is incredibly complex, attempts to categorise or tabulate every branch have proven futile. The law is not a static discipline; it is continually shaped by new rules, regulations, and judicial interpretations. This means no list of legal disciplines can ever be truly complete. The following list should be viewed as a guide rather than an exhaustive catalogue.
The following subjects are not mutually exclusive. Some subjects share common topics, such as Company Law and Business Law, and some cover substantially the same topics, such as Public Law and Constitutional Law, and others are essentially the same subjects but named differently, such as Competition Law and Antitrust Law. Broad legal classifications, such as common law, case law, statute law, civil law, private law, and procedural law, because they cover various subjects rather than constituting standalone areas of legal practice.

Selecting an area of law is rarely a decision made overnight. Most lawyers begin with a broad legal education before gradually discovering the fields that best match their interests, strengths, and career aspirations. Some are drawn to advocacy and litigation, while others prefer transactional work, policy development, regulatory compliance, or international practice. Technological innovation also continues to create entirely new legal careers that did not exist a generation ago. As the legal profession evolves, new areas of specialisation will continue to emerge, offering you an increasingly diverse range of career opportunities.
