All India Bar Examination AIBE

All India Bar Exam

The All India Bar Exam (AIBE) is a national-level examination that is conducted by the Bar Council of India (BCI) to assess the knowledge and skills of law graduates who want to practice law in India. The AIBE is mandatory for all law graduates who wish to practice law in India and is designed to test their knowledge of legal principles and procedures.

The AIBE is typically conducted once a year and consists of 100 multiple-choice questions that cover various aspects of legal practice, such as professional ethics, advocacy skills, and substantive law. The exam lasts for 3 hours and 30 minutes and can be taken in both the pen-and-paper format (offline-mode) and computer based test mode (online-mode). The exam is available in multiple languages, including English, Hindi, and regional languages, to cater to the diverse population of law graduates in India.

To be eligible to take the AIBE, a law graduate must have completed a recognised law degree programme and be registered with the Bar Council of India. The AIBE does not have a minimum passing score, but law graduates must score at least 40% of the total marks to be considered eligible for a certificate of practice.

The AIBE is an important step for law graduates who want to practice law in India, as it is a requirement for obtaining a certificate of practice from the Bar Council of India. It is essential for law graduates to prepare thoroughly for the AIBE and be familiar with the legal principles and procedures covered in the exam.
